C.L. Butler is an African American writer, scholar, poet, historian, entrepreneur, and social scientist. Born and raised in West Philadelphia, he was surrounded by a cultural Mecca of 90's hip hop, graffiti, street art, and Philly "grit", serving as a source of early inspiration.

C.L. Butler would go on to study Liberal Arts at Xavier University, and History & Sociology at the University of Houston-Downtown. While at these institutions he was heavily influenced by professors like Dr. Ashley Stadler-Blank, Dr. Rachel Chrastil, Dr. Adam Clark, and Dr. Jonathan Chism. Throughout his adult life, C.L. has dedicated himself to service as an alumnus of the Episcopal Service Corps and the AmeriCorps VISTA programs. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated a historically Black social service fraternity where he currently serves remotely as a the Historian of the Toronto Alumni chapter.

He has worked in the event management industry for several years with various organizations such as, Opera in the Heights, Rice University, the Asia Society Texas Center, Xavier University, Ripken Baseball, and the Cincinnati Reds.

In 2017 C.L. founded The Millennial Gazette, an online magazine/community blog providing journalism opportunities to millennial and gen-z writers. His poem "Laissez Faire" was published in 2017 by the University of Houston-Downtown Bayou Review. In 2019, C.L. published academic research alongside Dr. Barbara M. Butler in the Journal of International Relations and Diplomacy.

This year, C.L. launched the Instagram account @hi.stor.y where he covers world history from an intersectional approach.
As of 2020, C.L. has fully dedicated himself to writing, history, and entrepreneurship.

He is an Independent Contractor with UpWork.com where he serves organizations with CRM administration, data sourcing and market research.
